Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul presents Get Out

The Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul and the Capri Theater present Jordan Peele’s thought-provoking horror film Get Out, followed by a discussion led by Michael Starrbury.

The screening begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 2 at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. Tickets to First Thursday Films are $5; purchase in advance at or at the door the night of the show.

When Chris (Daniel Kaluuya), a young African-American man, visits his white girlfriend’s (Allison Williams) family estate, he becomes ensnared in the more sinister, real reason for the invitation. At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined. This speculative thriller from Blumhouse (producers of The Visit, Insidious series and The Gift) and the mind of Jordan Peele (Key & Peele) is equal parts gripping thriller and provocative commentary.

Each First Thursday Films screening at the Capri is followed by a spirited discussion of the movie. For Get Out we welcome Michael Starrbury, a Minnesota writer, producer and actor known for his films The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete, Legends of Chamberlain Heights and Black Jack.
