Northside neighbors, please pick up trash! It’s bad enough when people toss the stuff on the streets and sidewalks, showing that they do not care about our neighborhoods. But when the rest of us do not pick up the trash, it appears we do not care either.
Why does it matter? Well, the cost to us taxpayers, the environment and clogged sewer drains for a start, but there is data showing that trash affects neighborhood crime rates. Those neighborhoods that are picked up experience fewer break-ins.
There are articles about that and how our beautiful tall trees can also reduce crime levels. Check out

The bottom line: if we care, we pick up trash and that will contribute to miscreants realizing that our neighborhoods are no place to act up!
