New works by promising CAST playwrights

The Capri After School Theater program (CAST) will stage a reading of new works written by CAST students at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. Both performances are free and open to the public.

“CAST students have been digging into the art and process of playwriting,” says Kevin West, CAST Artistic Director. “This will be the first opportunity for our young playwrights to hear their words on stage, and see how actors inhabit the characters and scenes they’ve created. It will be an exciting event for writers, performers and audience members.”

Students will continue to hone their original scripts and performances, culminating in a full CAST production of new works at the Capri this summer.

The CAST program is free and open to all students currently enrolled in high school.
