Duke ‘n’ Donuts and contemporary composers’ concerts

a-hopewell-composersHopewell Music Cooperative North invites you to attend Duke ‘n’ Donuts — a concert filled with jazz classics by the legendary Duke Ellington, and their annual contemporary composers’ concert in May.

Hopewell Music’s Jazz Ensemble presents Duke ‘n’ Donuts at North United Methodist Church 4350 Fremont Ave. N, on Saturday, May 2 at 5 p.m. This concert features the music of Duke Ellington performed by the Hopewell Music Jazz Ensemble and will feature a surprise guest artist backed by the Hopewell Music Jazz Trio which is comprised of Hopewell faculty members. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.

The Hopewell Music Community Orchestra also presents its annual contemporary composers’ concert on a-hopewell-Duke-Jazz-EnsembleSaturday, May 16, 4 p.m. at North United Methodist Church. This concert features the music of living composers and explores the cutting edge of musical evolution — and features jazz, extended technique, film and television music and modern classical pieces by composers from around the world.
